I love the short list of ingredients and the flavor that emerges once cooked. It's the perfect finishing touch.<br \/>\nThis is one of those tasty recipes that will quickly become one of your favorites. Not only is it low in calories, it's also low in carbohydrates! It's the perfect way to make an easy, guilt-free meal!<br \/>\nThe other advantage is that there are many ways to prepare this simple side dish. You can also use red, green or yellow peppers for this bell pepper recipe.<br \/>\nRed onion - Peel and slice.<br \/>\nWhite onion - Peeled and cut lengthwise.<br \/>\nExtra-virgin olive oil - Adds flavor and a non-stick coating so ingredients don't stick to the fryer basket.<br \/>\nSea salt - To taste.<br \/>\nGround black pepper - To taste.<br \/>\nGarlic powder - A great way to add flavor without being overpowering.<br \/>\nRed pepper flakes - The best way to add spice.<\/p>\n<p>How to prepare peppers and onions for the air fryer?<br \/>\n Carefully slice the peppers and onions.   Add the sliced peppers and onions to a large bowl.   Garnish onions and peppers with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and red pepper flakes.  Prepare the fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray if necessary. Add the peppers and onions to the fryer basket and fry at 400 F\/200 C for 15 minutes, or until they have reached the desired tenderness.  Stir peppers and onions halfway through frying.   Serve immediately.  <\/p>\n<p>Variations<br \/>\nAdd meat - You can easily mince and add deep-fried sausages, hot Italian sausages, Polish sausages or any other sausage of your choice. It's a healthy side dish that can be seasoned with a variety of spices (like Italian seasoning!).<br \/>\nHow to store it<br \/>\nOnce this tasty accompaniment is cooked, simply leave to cool and place in an airtight container. Keep it refrigerated and cold. The reasoning behind this is that they will cook evenly and at the same speed. The last thing you want is to prepare and slice the vegetables so that they cook at a different rate.<br \/>\nEven if you don't mind crunchy peppers or onions, they're supposed to be softer and less crunchy.<br \/>\nWhat toppings can be added to air-fried peppers and onions?<br \/>\nYou're spoilt for choice when it comes to garnishes!
